What in the world is AWANA?
AWANA is a strange word. Don’t try looking it up in the dictionary because you’ll never find it because it’s actually an acronym for Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed. This acronym comes from II Timothy 2:15 where Paul is encouraging Timothy to be diligent in presenting Himself to God.

Through AWANA, children are encouraged to memorize scripture, understand it’s meaning and how it can apply to their lives. Kids are eager to learn and memorizing is often times easy for them. So taking full advantage of this stage in their lives, a curriculum is customized for them to enjoy.

Each Wednesday night, clubbers play games, earn awards, quote scripture and learn how much God loves them. Over 70% of the children who attend AWANA have no church affiliation. In fact, most of them walk to our church from the surrounding neighborhood. So we see AWANA as a tool to reach our surrounding mission field.

Who can be in AWANA?
By following the curriculum, kids ages 3 years old through the 6th grade are given books that have made memorizing fun, applicable and lasting. A combination of games, awards and prizes encourage kids to bring friends and memorize God’s word.
