Neighborhood
Task Force, Odessa
April 19, 2008
Throughout
Odessa, there are senior adults who do not have the strength or finances available
to care for their yards, trees, or repairs to their home. City code requires them
to maintain their property but they are unable to meet the code. As a church,
we are going to lend a hand to these and care for their physical needs.
And
we did!
We happened
to 311 W. 83rd St. in a powerful way. Mrs. Willie Bass' home was in disrepair
and her yard was overgrown with weeds reaching 51/2 feet tall. We took all the
cleaning product we could find, rented a hedge hog and with the help of 14 "Goers"
we happened to Mrs. Bass' house.
Pictures
alone cannot communicate what we saw, smelled and helped repair. We tried to fix
all that we could on a brief Saturday and we certainly left things undone. Maybe
we'll go back.
Watch the team at work!
