LifeLine Groups

LifeLine Groups are the small group ministry of Odessa Bible Church. They form the core of how we build relationships, make disciples and teach doctrinal truths. Through these groups we can build a healthy, vibrant and fruity church. Whether we’re studying Romans or learning how the latest blockbuster can be used to share the Gospel, our desire is to produce fruit that is glorifying to God.

Imagine being a 20 something young married sitting next to a Senior adult who just celebrated his 60th anniversary. Do you think you might be able to learn something from each other? Or being a Senior adult who feels that all your friends are sick and dying and then coming to a class and getting to know a 30 something couple. Think just maybe you might come away with some added energy? Or maybe a single adult who has the opportunity to get to know a widow or widower. What an opportunity!

We do and that is why at Odessa Bible we have classes full of all ages. In so doing, older men are able to know the younger men. Older women are able to influence younger women. We learn from each other and in so doing, the Body of Christ remains united, healthy and growing.

This type of learning is essential in the Christian experience. When we separate our generations, the unintended consequence is a church that is age divided. Our desire is to put both groups in one room and allow them to learn from and better understand one another.

Challengers

Are you looking for a place where you can interrupt, question and chase any rabbit trail of your liking? Then you will find it in the "Challengers" class. Taught by Jim McCutcheon, this class is geared for dialogue. Often times they'll start in John and end up in Isaiah simply because somebody had a question. Once that question is asked the fun begins.
You're free to challenge but be warned, you might just be challenged yourself. Challenged to modify your habit, reorganize your priorities or reconsider your thinking. With grace and love always at the heart, any good examination of scripture will result in affirmation or conviction.
Do something unique this Sunday and visit the "Challengers" class. Come and learn how deep and how wide the Savior's love is for you.
Class meets at 9:30 sharp. There is too much to cover to start late.

In a recent study, the Barna Research Group revealed a
stunning statistic that continues to reverberate throughout the
evangelical world. Only 9 percent of professing Christians
have a biblical world view.

Because of this, today's believers live very similarly to non-believers. A personal sense of significance is rarely experienced, we spend our money and time on things that fail to satisfy and we begin to wonder what life's ultimate purpose really is. We are, in short, losing our bearings as a people and a nation.

To counter this slide within the body of Christ, we are partnering with Focus on the Family to bring you — The Truth Project.

This class will begin on February 24th at 9:30am sharp. This video course will lead you in shaping a world view that is biblical, Christ centered and glorifying to God.

Sunday and Wednesday Evenings

Discerning the Voice of God
Sunday, February 17th - 6:00-8:00pm; $15 (optional)

Does God speak to us today? Many times people will say, “I heard God say…” but can we really hear His voice? What about our emotions, preconceived ideas or preferences that can get in the way?

Priscilla Shirer, daughter of Tony Evans, has put together a study that will explore this topic of hearing God’s voice. Through prayer and study of God’s Word, Mrs. Shirer believes we will be able to discern God’s voice and leading in our lives. Join our ladies for this exciting study.

This 6 weeks study will begin on February 17th at 6:00. Workbooks are optional and cost $10. Learn more about Priscilla Shirer at "Going Beyond."

Flags of our Fathers
Wednesday Night @ Rosa's (8th)- 8:30-9:30; $15 per book

It was a difficult fight to the top of the mountain and when they
finally reached its summit, they discovered the fight had just begun. 6
boys raised that flag on Iwo Jima and only 3 of them made it home.
Their story is compelling, one that can change your perspective on
what is important.

Their story is captured in the book, “Flags of our Fathers” and our
men will begin reading it together on Wednesday evenings, February
13th at Rosa’s on 8th. Books cost $15. Reserve your copy of this book
by February 8th by contacting the church office or through the Com-
munication card on Sunday morning.
